We're thrilled to announce our exciting lineup of Winter Programs for the 2024/2025 season! This year, we're offering five diverse options across Roanoke and the New River Valley to keep our young athletes active and improving their skills during the colder months.  For U6-U10 programming, please visit our Academy Page.

Winter Programs

1. Indoor Winter Soccer (Roanoke)
2. Winter Indoor Technical Training (Roanoke)
3. Winter Outdoor Technical Training (New River Valley)
4. Winter Futsal Program (New River Valley)
5. Goalkeeper Trainings (Roanoke & NRV)

Players can participate in multiple programs, limited only by age and schedule constraints.

Registration Details

• VUFC Families: Opens October 14th
• General Public: Opens October 21st
• Cost: $105 per player, per program
• Registration Deadline: December 2nd

Note: Early registration is strongly encouraged due to capacity limits. Late registrations will be waitlisted.

1. Roanoke Winter Indoor Technical Training

Locations

• Star City Soccer Center: 6324 Aerial Way Drive, Roanoke, VA

• Lab Sports: 1824 9th Street SE, Roanoke, VA

Schedule

Training runs Monday through Thursday nights from the week of January 6th through the week of February 17th.

• U11/U12 Boys: Thursday

• U11/U12 Girls: Wednesday

• U13/U14 Boys: Tuesday

• U13/U14 Girls: Wednesday

• U15-U19 Boys: Tuesday

• U15-U19 Girls: Monday

• U11-U19 Boys/Girls Goalkeeper Training: Monday at Star City Soccer Center

Key Details

• Cost: $105 for 7 one-hour sessions

• Equipment: Bring a ball, water bottle, and cleats or tennis shoes (No cleats

allowed at Lab Sports)

• Registration Deadline: Monday, December 2nd

2. Winter Indoor League Games (Roanoke)

Now accepting registrations for the 2024/2025 Winter Season. All players will receive a t-shirt for games. Space is limited, so sign up early!

Who:  U11 - U19 Division

If you are U8-U10, please visit the Jr. Academy to Sign Up for Indoor

What:

• Virginia United offers an Indoor Soccer League for game play this winter to players of all

age and skill levels.

• Available to all youth soccer players in Roanoke and New River Valley, not limited to Virginia United players.

• Encouraging other area clubs to join for lively competition.

• Games consist of 2 - 25 minute halves and a 5-minute halftime.

• Game Format: 6 v 6 (5 field players and a keeper)

Where:

• Star City Soccer Center, 3624 Aerial Way Drive, Roanoke, VA 24018 (turf surface,

cleats encouraged)

• LabSports Performance, 1824 9th St SE, Roanoke, VA 24013 (no cleats on this surface)

When:

• Friday nights: JV and Varsity Boys, U11 and U12 Girls

• Saturdays: U10-U15 Boys and Girls (some games may be on Sundays in these divisions)

• Sundays: JV and Varsity Girls

• Season Length: 7-game season beginning on January 5th

Key Details

• Cost: $105 per player – Includes T-Shirt

• Registration Deadline: Monday, December 2nd

o Registrations received after the deadline will be placed on a waitlist and only

assigned a team if space allows.

o Late registrations are not guaranteed a t-shirt.

Additional Information:

• Minimum roster size: 8 players; teams must have 8 by the registration deadline.

• Don't have a team? Organizers will do their best to find all players a team. If

unsuccessful, a full refund will be given.

3. Winter Outdoor Technical Training (New River Valley)

• Ages: 2015-2006 birth years
• Location: Virginia Tech Rec Fields times TBD
• Schedule: Wednesdays or Sundays (option for both days if space allows)
• 7 weekly sessions, January 6th to February 17th

4. Winter Futsal Program (New River Valley)

• Format: 5v5 indoor games
• Location: Blacksburg Recreational Center gym or Gateway Baptist Church
• Ages: U8 (Co-ed), U10-U19 (boys and girls divisions)
• Open to: All players (Roanoke/NRV and outside the club)
• Saturday (Possibly Sunday) Games starting January 4th-February 17th

5. Goalkeeper Trainings (Roanoke & NRV)

• Schedule: 7 weekly sessions, January 6th to February 17th
• Locations: Both Roanoke (Star City Soccer Center) and NRV (Virginia Tech Rec Turf)
• NRV Goalkeeping will be on Wednesday evenings.  Time TBD.
